Romania: where you too can learn to tile!

Hey Y'all!

It's laaate Saturday night. We've been so busy the last couple of days, the only spare time we had, we used eating or growing new friendships through dance parties!

I'll start with Friday,

Friday started a little off kilter with a trip to a few stores before we could go out to Tinka. Once all of the errands were run, the 45 minute ride was taken and everything ready, it was already afternoon. Since we went to the gypsy part of town later in the day, a lot of the kids didn't come out. We missed Christi and Kassie, but were able to power through. We gave the kids crosses that had all of the colors on them from the week's lesson. The kids knew what each color meant and yelled them out!! We were so happy that they retained all of that teaching! :) They decorated crowns wore them proudly! We also handed out a little paper bag to each child with a handful of fun gifts :) The kids were so grateful and happy and loving on us! It was hard because they were told that once they got their bags, to head home... which meant we didn't get to have proper goodbyes to some of them. It was so hard leaving Tim's back yard that last time. (Tim works with Rachel and is one of the very few families that has electricity) There was no time to cry because we were on the move once again to get back to the center. I'm sure those feelings will come in waves and will completely come when we leave the country, but for now... we're all getting by and looking forward to the next day!

Once we got to the center, there were jobs waiting for us! With only a few hours until the party, we scarfed down our food and got to gettin! Stephanie 1 and I completed (all but cutting some tiles for corners) our little closet! We made an "I" with darker tiles and did mosaic around it for "Isaiah Center". Everyone had a job, whether cooking, cleaning, tiling, or resting their foot (Curt). By 6 it was time for dinner with Tim and family and Corey and family. A lot of people, a lot of love! Both families help Rachel and so we got to thank them for helping!

Dinner turned into talking, which turned into music, which turned into a dance party on the patio! The little ones were good! (Maybe a little too good) Urb and Michelle were good sports and got up to dance! Michelle even put on a pretty little jingly skirt/wrap and they both went to town showing everyone their moves. :) The little 8-12 year old kids were showing us how it's done! Little Ruben (maybe 3 years old) was dancing like a pro! One thing lead to another, I dared Dave to get up and dance in the middle, he said "I will if you will", and so we both attempted to Gypsy dance. Oi. Good thing the little girls came up to help me, Dave just danced/flailed because it was fun and everyone was laughing at us and with us! It was a great way to end a crazy wonderful day!

Today(Saturday)

Today started out about an hour later than normal for the sake of Saturday. Thanks to our fearless leader Barb, we woke up rested and with scrabbled eggs and potatoes for breakfast waiting for us! After Stephanie, Stephanie and tracy stayed back because they were "sick", we all headed to the center for a day of work. We were tiling in 3 rooms at the same time! Mrs. Michelle was mixing that mortar for all three rooms bless her heart! We broke for amazing freshly made cabbage rolls for lunch at around 3 only to go back to work and be surprised with the smell of homemade doughnuts a little bit later! with our belly's full and "We gotta get finished!!" on our brains, we mixed, mortared, tiled, cut, made bird feeders, and covered that floor in record time! We were able to finish the office without edges, the bedroom with almost all edges and the 'living room' without edges and with a walking path. We had to leave before we were done because there was something stirring back on the farm.....

While we were all tiling like we had been born with mortar in our hands, the three "sick girls" were back at the farm decorating and cooking for a surprise "Mexican Birthday party"! We brought stuff for tacos, chocolate chip cookie cake and even Margarita mix! (Virgin of course) Iza turned 6 in July and Rachel will turn 20+10 in October so we gave them a joint party. It was great to see them able to relax and let someone do something for them :) Also, when she found out we were having "taco bell style" dinner, her eyes got bigger than Dave's when he's excited about a football (soccer) game! :)

It's been such a blessing so far to be here in Romania with all these amazing team mates! To be able to serve along side everyone and work for God's glory is amazing! It's been amazing getting to know Rachel and Iza and Dave(from London/from Romania) and getting to see their passions really come out in their everyday living! Whether they're simply huging and loving on the kids, making them lunch, helping pick out outfits for the nice and clean babies, put on a football(soccer) league and present the Gospel through a devo before hand, they are serving with their whole hearts and it shows. I can't wait for the rest of the week! It's just past half over and it feels like we just got here a few days ago!

Thank for all the prayers!

Yesterday Tammy tripped on a toy and sprained her wrist. She's in some pain, but has a nurse and 9 other concerned team members to take care of her.

Tomorrow is Sunday. We get to go to Church. One of the most beautiful sounds in the world is multiple languages singing praises our one true God! ( We know most of the songs so we can sing along in English) Just a minuscule piece of Heaven! This is what Heaven will be like :) Everyone singing to him in Romanian, English and all others. Even the trees and rocks will cry out. How great is our God!!!!!

Can't wait for what God has in store for us tomorrow!
