Remember that love

This is Kassie and it’s Thursday! Actually it’s Friday, early Friday and I’m leaving Romania in a few hours :( I always knew school was good for nothing! Since I’m graduating in December I figured a mission trip this year would more than likely not be a possibility. So when Christi told me she was only staying in Romania for one week this year I was ecstatic at the idea of finally coming to Romania and getting to love on the children at the Isaiah Center and in the village of Tinca.

When we first arrived at the airport in Budapest (4 hours from Oradea where we stay) our driver Adi picked us up and I had some initial concerns about his technique on the road. As the week has progressed however, I see that he is actually WAY better than other Romanian drivers!

Despite my knowledge of Adi’s better than average driving skills I was still anxious on the drive to Tinca today but it was because I knew that this would be my last day to love on the children there and to give them all the attention I could which they so desperately crave. I also knew I was going to have to say goodbye to a set of twins in Tinca I’ve lost my heart to, as well as Rachel, Dave, and our AWESOME interpreters who Christi, Julie and I talk to in our best Italian accents?

VBS was awesome, the kids loved the songs we worshiped to, the puppet shows, craft and lunch and when it was time for us to leave I said goodbye to all the beautiful little faces and got back on Adi’s van.

For a while I was upset because I knew I would not be seeing the kids for a whole year. So many things can happen in a year, different teams coming in and I wondered would the kids really remember me? After all I was only there for a week, and not even a whole week at that. Four days is not a long time to build lasting relationships with people, especially when you don’t even speak their language! Then I realized that it’s not me I should really worry about them remembering, it’s Jesus. As long as they know that God loves them and see people (Rachel and Dave and hopefully other mission teams) pouring love into them, the outcast of Romanian society, then they will know that love and REMEMBER THAT LOVE.

Bon voyage,

Kassie
