talked with the team today...they are back safely in st. louis from the trip out to the orphanage and the bay...the bay is in the far west zone of haiti. there's a church planted there...a nutrition center...and a new orphanage in that town. at the bay they did a vbs and spent time with curtis and daniel (they live at the bay but have been to speak at the rising). word is everyone is doing really well...probably very tired...but the past couple of weeks has been life changing. i can't describe the perspective gained on a trip like this...you should be thrilled to hear their stories when they get back! Today they took a hike to the waterfall...which is around a 6 mile hike round trip...you walk through the market...and pass many homes and you have kids hanging on you the whole way...i miss it just writing about it.
tomorrow is their last day. be praying for them...it'll be a great day to reflect...spend time with the miriam center kids (mental and physical handicap) that steal your heart and say goodbyes to the staff of northwest. i checked for pictures today...but i think out group must be sneaky cause i didn't see any of them.
ok...so you get to see your student soon! be thrilled. be pumped.
and just so everyone who reads this knows...in the next week or 2 we are launching a web site that tells the story of the village we (the rising) adopted and want to pour into. it's helphealhaiti.com... there you will be able to give to the cause...we are partnering with Norwest to see many things come to Chansolme...an orphanage, a health center, education, feeding program, job creation, clean water, the gospel... you will also be able to purchase paintings made by the children of chansolme...hear stories of life change...view video footage of our time there...and be a part of something real and eternal.
just giving you the heads up....check it out soon.
