Throughout the year, Northside's Food Pantry needs donated
non-perishable grocery items that will be donated to local families
in need. In October, we make an additional churchwide
appeal to help stock the pantry--especially to help families over
the holidays. To help, simply pick up a purple recyclable grocery
bag, fill it with grocery items on the attached list, and return it to
Northside.
About the Food Pantry
Northside's Food Pantry helped feed almost 10,000 of God's
people in 2010. The number of people we serve and the need for
volunteers continues to grow. We need more help not only with
food, personal items, and books, but also your time.
When: Mondays 6:00pm - 7:30pm, Tuesdays 5:00pm - 6:30pm
Where: Northside Christian Church
Description: The Food Pantry is open twice a week to anyone in
need of food. Each person or family is allowed to come once a
month to choose items from our Food Pantry shopping list. The list
may vary each day as to what food is available.
In addition to food items, the Food Pantry has a book wagon for children and parents to choose books to take home and read. These books are donated so that others can enjoy reading. We also offer Bibles and helpful information sheets for familes to help them through tough times.
Prayer & Outreach Ministries:
We have a prayer ministry team called "PIPs" (Power in Prayer). Food Pantry guests are welcome to write out prayer requests, and this team prays for the individual and their request.
Also we have a "Reach-Out" ministry that will call back those who are interested in learning and receiving more information in our church and programs.
Interested in Volunteering?
Volunteers are always welcome and needed Mondays and Tuesdays to help run the Food Pantry services. Workers should arrive one hour before the Food Pantry opens to help set up. This ministry is a great opportunity for families of all ages to serve together.
Our 'Dare to Care' team is in need of extra helpers. They go to Dare to Care to pick up food when we are in need and able to buy items from this organization.
Food and item donations are always welcome. For the book wagon, adults especially enjoy spiritual and mystery books.
To volunteer with the food pantry or to learn more about this ministry, please email Leann Kemelgor, ministry leader.
